VINNY VLEMMIX – VIDI VICI
Vinny Vlemmix (b.1998, the Netherlands) is currently studying at the Fotoacademie in Amsterdam. His photographs are diaristic, capturing Vlemmix’s wanders around in the Netherlands, functioning as a reflection of his life experiences and the era he currently lives in.
In Vlemmix’s work, one can observe a mix of colour and black and white photographs that show his surroundings. Regardless of if its strangers or friends, he captures what he considers to be “special little moments”. By engaging with his environment, he attempts to show a personal and intimate perspective of his generation through portraiture, landscapes, still lives and snapshots.
His title is originally inspired by Julius Caesar’s famous proclamation “Veni, Vidi, Vici” (I came, I saw, I conquered). Vlemmix, therefore, reflects such an approach in his way of photographing – fast and powerful captures of fleeting moments that besiege him.
